We are discussing the categories of sound and the scene I chose is the shipwreck from the movie Titanic.

The first category is music. The music was composed James Horner. The music used for this scene was an orchestra, music used for this scene is very intense.

The second category is Dialogue, it is  written by the screenwriter, James Cameron. In this scene the ship’s crew spotted the iceberg and notified the captain. They tried real hard to turn the ship

around but didn’t succed. The ship crashed into the iceberg and slowly began to fill with water.

The third and final category is sound effects. This scene had a lot of unique sounds. For example, as the captain was turning the wheel, the effect used resembled foot steps. When the ship was pacing towards the iceberg they used a whistling sound to imitate the sound of the wind

and when the ship hit the iceberg there was a crunching sound.

These different types of sounds affected the audience in this scene, it showed the fear all the employees and passengers had at that moment. It is very heart pounding and difficult to watch.

The key category of sound being in the entire film is the groaning sound of the sinking, breaking vessel.
